Needs hose to close cooling system with radiator cap. recommend thermostat for overheating. Intake hose removed during inspection – hose broken. Oil change light is on. DTC in system for engine – P1258 Engine Coolant over temp. P1258 as OBDii code. Protection mode active. Advised customer we are not able to test integrity of motor at this time. Will drive post repairs to confirm if any other needed repairs to cooling system will be necessary. Clear all DTC in system. Post repairs tech monitored cooling system. Fan coming on. System getting to 201 degrees.

- tech removed valve cover and found no excessive movement on rocker arms, lifters or any components relating to cylinder head. Performed cylinder leak down test and found some leakage at crank case. Advised customer that engine is known for having piston ring issues. Customer given option to replace engine or remove cylinder head. Post repairs tech removed cylinder head and found on block cylinder 3 = wall scored and damaged. It appears as if something went down cylinder 3.
